Claire & Tom: A Love Story at Preston Court

Claire and Tom’s Preston Court wedding in Kent in June 2022 was a beautiful and fun-filled event. The couple, who love cats and pizza, opted for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for their wedding day. They had a pizza delivery for their evening buffet, and the sweet aroma of freshly baked cinnabons wafted through the air. Their quirky and laid-back attitude set the tone for the entire day, making it one to remember.

Preston Court in Kent is a hidden gem in the wedding industry, and it’s easy to see why. The picturesque venue boasts Juliana’s Island, a charming island situated in the lake directly in front of the house. The ceremony took place here, surrounded by the natural beauty of the lake and the lush greenery.

The wedding blessings and other ceremonies were held in a pagoda, nestled between an ancient yew tree and a weeping birch. The natural elements added to the magical and romantic ambiance of the venue, making it an ideal setting for Claire and Tom’s special day.

Every moment of the day, from the heartfelt wedding vows to the raucous laughter and dancing at the reception were a joy to capture. The couple’s personalities shone through in every photo, and the beauty of the venue and its surroundings made my job a joy.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was when Claire and Tom walked through the stunning gardens at Preston Court, surrounded by their loved ones. The gardens were a perfect backdrop for me to capture some beautiful and intimate photos of the couple.

The site of Preston Court and St Mildred’s Church have very ancient origins, streching back to pre-Roman times, with much archeaology still lying waiting to be discovered. According to legend, in around AD700, in Saxon times, St Mildred allowed her deer to run wild across the countryside and wherever they found drinking water she built a church. One of these churches was St Mildred’s Church, Preston. Those same natural springs still flow and are all around Preston Court gardens, feeding into the lakes.

Through the ages several different houses have existed on the site of Preston Court, with the current handsome Georgian house having been built in 1811. It was at this time that the grounds and lakes were extensively landscaped.

Kind words

“We are so so so grateful to Matt and the way he managed to capture our day! For someone who isn’t the biggest fan of having their photo taken he made the whole process so easy and relaxed. Looking back at the gallery there are some photos and I didn’t even realise he was there! He has captured everything so beautifully and was so much fun on the day! From pre wedding pep talks to cracking jokes he was just a dream! Thank you so so so much Matt!!
