The Hylands House Wedding of Dorcas & Paul. A cold but sunny November morning greeted me as I made the short journey over to my last Hylands House wedding of the year. Dorcas and Paul’s wedding was certainly one I had been looking forward to for some time. The Ivory and Gold theme ensured colour and vibrancy was in abundance and the guests, some of whom had made their way over from Nigeria & Ghana, did not disappoint. Dorcas and Paul were great to work with and dealt with the inevitable pressures that every wedding brings so well.
This wasn’t your standard wedding. The couple got ready yards from each other and also undertook a very moving prayer, whilst stood back-to-back and surrounded by groomsmen and bridesmaids before making their way down to the ceremony. An extended service with gospel singers, live piano plus readings from a Bishop and a Lord made this a highly unique and emotional wedding. Following the ceremony, we whizzed through the formal photographs before taking the couple away for 20 minutes to get a few of the couple portraits that they so badly wanted. Luckily the sun shone and we managed to get some great stuff before it disappeared.
The evening reception must go down as one of the liveliest and enjoyable in my time shooting weddings. Stunning colours and costumes with some of the most energetic dancing I’ve ever seen. This wedding certainly rocked! Scroll down to see the story of their truly wonderful day.
I also had the pleasure of shooting alongside Videographer Philip Smith Visuals once again. I really can’t recommend Phil high enough and as always he delivered a truly stunning video for the couple. See it below.
